CLOSE TO GOD
I wonder if Jacob felt particularly "spiritual" as he lay down to sleep at Bethel with his head on a rock. He was running for his life from his angry brother. He had deceived Esau twice by taking his birthright and blessing. If I was Jacob, I would not have felt particularly close to God. I would have felt alone, scared and maybe even rejected. But it was at this low point in his life that Jacob found himself in the presence of God. As he slept the LORD appeared to Jacob to confirm the promises he had given to Abraham and Isaac and to reassure Jacob that God would be with him. "I am with you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you."
There may be times in our lives when things are going well that we think we are close to God, but really it is when we are alone, scared, running or rejected that we are often most close to God, and our God is close to us. It is when God strips us of all we put our faith in and brings us to our knees before him that we really learn that he will never leave us and that he is with us all the way.
So let us put our confidence in the LORD and go on in the strength of his promise.

The blessing "of Abraham" v4 was only given by Isaac to Jacob when he was certain who he was.

Things had gone wrong for Esau in not receiving Isaac's blessing for the firstborn. How did he react? He took to himself a third wife who would not have been to his father's liking. He took it out on his father. There is a simple warning for us in this - when things go "wrong" in our lives we need to be careful that we do not take it out on other people. Usually those at most risk are those closest to us.

PART OF THE FAMILY (v.10-15)
The wonderful covenant that God gave to Abraham & Isaac was offered to Jacob as well. But it was not enough just to be a grandson of Abraham, Jacob had to learn through the "school of hard knocks", that he also needed to establish his own personal relationship with God. (Not to rely on his own wits to get the promises) Likewise each of us needs to establish our own relationship with God. It is not enough to just be a Christadelphian, we need to do something about it to be part of God's family. These promises are made to us as well in Gal 3:27-28 and so we personally need to become part of the story ourselves.

Gen 28:1-4 Jacob before setting off on his journey to find a wife from the family home in Haran, is reminded by Isaac of the promises the LORD had made to Abraham. God had promised to make the descendants of Abraham “fruitful and multiply … that thou mayest be a multitude of people”(v.3). In the word “multitude” (<6951>, meaning, an assembly of people) we see the promise of the ecclesia. Those called out and blessed by “God Almighty”.
This promise of “a multitude” is developed further when we read the promises revealed in a dream to Jacob (Gen 28:10-14) at the place named Bethel (<1008>, the house of God). This same word is translated “congregation” in Psa 22:22 “I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation (<6951>) will I praise thee.”Again Psa 22:25, “the great congregation”.So in this messianic Psalm Jesus (i.e. the promised seed) will declare God’s name in the congregation.
The link with the promise of a multitude of people is made when Psa 2:22 is quoted in Heb 2:12 “Saying, (i.e.Jesus) I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church (<1577> ecclesia) will I sing praise unto thee.”
So we see a consistent theme the “multitude” promised to Abraham becomes the “congregation” in which Jesus will declare his father’s Name.

Verse 35; Having borne three sons to Jacob in the hope of winning the same love for herself that Jacob had for Rachel, Leah realises the hopelessness of her situation; yet in her despair, she turns to Yahweh in the naming of her fourth son Judah (praise) and states "Now will I praise the LORD." What an example Leah was!
Interestingly, it was Leah who was laid to rest in the family grave at Machpelah (Gen 49:31), yet we read that Rachel died "in (or on) the way to Ephrath, which [is] Bethlehem" (Gen 35:19) and was not buried in the family grave as Leah was.
Note too, Rachel's awful ultimatum to her husband Jacob in the next verse: "Give me children or I'll take my own life!"
How do we behave when our circumstances seem hopeless? Are we a Rachel or a Leah?

2. Arise <6965>(8798), go <3212>(8798) to Padanaram <6307>, to the house <1004> of Bethuel <1328> thy mother's <517> father <1>; and take <3947>(8798) thee a wife <802> from thence of the daughters <1323> of Laban <3837> thy mother's <517> brother <251>.
3. And God <410> Almighty <7706> bless <1288>(8762) thee, and make thee fruitful <6509>(8686), and multiply <7235>(8686) thee, that thou mayest be a multitude <6951> of people <5971>;
4. And give <5414>(8799) thee the blessing <1293> of Abraham <85>, to thee, and to thy seed <2233> with thee; that thou mayest inherit <3423>(8800) the land <776> wherein thou art a stranger <4033>, which God <430> gave <5414>(8804) unto Abraham <85>.
5. And Isaac <3327> sent away <7971>(8799) Jacob <3290>: and he went <3212>(8799) to Padanaram <6307> unto Laban <3837>, son <1121> of Bethuel <1328> the Syrian <761>, the brother <251> of Rebekah <7259>, Jacob's <3290> and Esau's <6215> mother <517>.
6. When Esau <6215> saw <7200>(8799) that Isaac <3327> had blessed <1288>(8765) Jacob <3290>, and sent him away <7971>(8765) to Padanaram <6307>, to take <3947>(8800) him a wife <802> from thence; and that as he blessed <1288>(8763) him he gave him a charge <6680>(8762), saying <559>(8800), Thou shalt not take <3947>(8799) a wife <802> of the daughters <1323> of Canaan <3667>;
7. And that Jacob <3290> obeyed <8085>(8799) his father <1> and his mother <517>, and was gone <3212>(8799) to Padanaram <6307>;
8. And Esau <6215> seeing <7200>(8799) that the daughters <1323> of Canaan <3667> pleased <5869> not <7451> Isaac <3327> his father <1>;
9. Then went <3212>(8799) Esau <6215> unto Ishmael <3458>, and took <3947>(8799) unto the wives <802> which he had Mahalath <4258> the daughter <1323> of Ishmael <3458> Abraham's <85> son <1121>, the sister <269> of Nebajoth <5032>, to be his wife <802>.
10. And Jacob <3290> went out <3318>(8799) from Beersheba <884>, and went <3212>(8799) toward Haran <2771>.
11. And he lighted <6293>(8799) upon a certain place <4725>, and tarried there all night <3885>(8799), because the sun <8121> was set <935>(8804); and he took <3947>(8799) of the stones <68> of that place <4725>, and put <7760>(8799) them for his pillows <4763>, and lay down <7901> <0> in that place <4725> to sleep <7901>(8799).
12. And he dreamed <2492>(8799), and behold a ladder <5551> set up <5324>(8716) on the earth <776>, and the top of it <7218> reached <5060>(8688) to heaven <8064>: and behold the angels <4397> of God <430> ascending <5927>(8802) and descending <3381>(8802) on it.
13. And, behold, the LORD <3068> stood <5324>(8737) above it, and said <559>(8799), I am the LORD <3068> God <430> of Abraham <85> thy father <1>, and the God <430> of Isaac <3327>: the land <776> whereon thou liest <7901>(8802), to thee will I give it <5414>(8799), and to thy seed <2233>;
14. And thy seed <2233> shall be as the dust <6083> of the earth <776>, and thou shalt spread abroad <6555>(8804) to the west <3220>, and to the east <6924>, and to the north <6828>, and to the south <5045>: and in thee and in thy seed <2233> shall all the families <4940> of the earth <127> be blessed <1288>(8738).
15. And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep <8104>(8804) thee in all places whither <834> thou goest <3212>(8799), and will bring thee again <7725>(8689) into this land <127>; for I will not leave <5800>(8799) thee, until <834> I have done <6213>(8804) that which I have spoken <1696>(8765) to thee of.
16. And Jacob <3290> awaked <3364>(8799) out of his sleep <8142>, and he said <559>(8799), Surely <403> the LORD <3068> is <3426> in this place <4725>; and I knew <3045>(8804) it not.
17. And he was afraid <3372>(8799), and said <559>(8799), How dreadful <3372>(8737) is this place <4725>! this is none other but the house <1004> of God <430>, and this is the gate <8179> of heaven <8064>.
18. And Jacob <3290> rose up early <7925>(8686) in the morning <1242>, and took <3947>(8799) the stone <68> that he had put <7760>(8804) for his pillows <4763>, and set it up <7760>(8799) for a pillar <4676>, and poured <3332>(8799) oil <8081> upon the top of it <7218>.
19. And he called <7121>(8799) the name <8034> of that place <4725> Bethel <1008>: but <199> the name <8034> of that city <5892> was called Luz <3870> at the first <7223>.
20. And Jacob <3290> vowed <5087>(8799) a vow <5088>, saying <559>(8800), If God <430> will be with me, and will keep me <8104>(8804) in this way <1870> that I go <1980>(8802), and will give <5414>(8804) me bread <3899> to eat <398>(8800), and raiment <899> to put on <3847>(8800),
21. So that I come again <7725>(8804) to my father's <1> house <1004> in peace <7965>; then shall the LORD <3068> be my God <430>:
22. And this stone <68>, which I have set <7760>(8804) for a pillar <4676>, shall be God's <430> house <1004>: and of all that thou shalt give <5414>(8799) me I will surely <6237>(8763) give the tenth <6237>(8762) unto thee.
1. Then Jacob <3290> went on <5375>(8799) his journey <7272>, and came <3212>(8799) into the land <776> of the people <1121> of the east <6924>.
2. And he looked <7200>(8799), and behold a well <875> in the field <7704>, and, lo, there were three <7969> flocks <5739> of sheep <6629> lying <7257>(8802) by it; for out of that well <875> they watered <8248>(8686) the flocks <5739>: and a great <1419> stone <68> was upon the well's <875> mouth <6310>.
3. And thither were all the flocks <5739> gathered <622>(8738): and they rolled <1556>(8804) the stone <68> from the well's <875> mouth <6310>, and watered <8248>(8689) the sheep <6629>, and put <7725> <0> the stone <68> again <7725>(8689) upon the well's <875> mouth <6310> in his place <4725>.
4. And Jacob <3290> said <559>(8799) unto them, My brethren <251>, whence <370> be ye? And they said <559>(8799), Of Haran <2771> are we.
5. And he said <559>(8799) unto them, Know <3045>(8804) ye Laban <3837> the son <1121> of Nahor <5152>? And they said <559>(8799), We know <3045>(8804) him.
6. And he said <559>(8799) unto them, Is he well <7965>? And they said <559>(8799), He is well <7965>: and, behold, Rachel <7354> his daughter <1323> cometh <935>(8802) with the sheep <6629>.
7. And he said <559>(8799), Lo <2005>, it is yet high <1419> day <3117>, neither is it time <6256> that the cattle <4735> should be gathered together <622>(8736): water <8248>(8685) ye the sheep <6629>, and go <3212>(8798) and feed <7462>(8798) them.
8. And they said <559>(8799), We cannot <3201>(8799), until all the flocks <5739> be gathered together <622>(8735), and till they roll <1556>(8804) the stone <68> from the well's <875> mouth <6310>; then we water <8248>(8689) the sheep <6629>.
9. And while he yet <5750> spake <1696>(8764) with them, Rachel <7354> came <935>(8804) with her father's <1> sheep <6629>: for she kept them <7462>(8802).
10. And it came to pass, when Jacob <3290> saw <7200>(8804) Rachel <7354> the daughter <1323> of Laban <3837> his mother's <517> brother <251>, and the sheep <6629> of Laban <3837> his mother's <517> brother <251>, that Jacob <3290> went near <5066>(8799), and rolled <1556>(8686) the stone <68> from the well's <875> mouth <6310>, and watered <8248>(8686) the flock <6629> of Laban <3837> his mother's <517> brother <251>.
11. And Jacob <3290> kissed <5401>(8799) Rachel <7354>, and lifted up <5375>(8799) his voice <6963>, and wept <1058>(8799).
12. And Jacob <3290> told <5046>(8686) Rachel <7354> that he was her father's <1> brother <251>, and that he was Rebekah's <7259> son <1121>: and she ran <7323>(8799) and told <5046>(8686) her father <1>.
13. And it came to pass, when Laban <3837> heard <8085>(8800) the tidings <8088> of Jacob <3290> his sister's <269> son <1121>, that he ran <7323>(8799) to meet <7125>(8800) him, and embraced <2263>(8762) him, and kissed <5401>(8762) him, and brought <935>(8686) him to his house <1004>. And he told <5608>(8762) Laban <3837> all these things <1697>.
14. And Laban <3837> said <559>(8799) to him, Surely <389> thou art my bone <6106> and my flesh <1320>. And he abode <3427>(8799) with him the space <3117> of a month <2320>.
15. And Laban <3837> said <559>(8799) unto Jacob <3290>, Because thou art my brother <251>, shouldest thou therefore serve <5647>(8804) me for nought <2600>? tell <5046>(8685) me, what shall thy wages <4909> be?
16. And Laban <3837> had two <8147> daughters <1323>: the name <8034> of the elder <1419> was Leah <3812>, and the name <8034> of the younger <6996> was Rachel <7354>.
17. Leah <3812> was tender <7390> eyed <5869>; but Rachel <7354> was beautiful <3303> <8389> and well <3303> favoured <4758>.
18. And Jacob <3290> loved <157>(8799) Rachel <7354>; and said <559>(8799), I will serve <5647>(8799) thee seven <7651> years <8141> for Rachel <7354> thy younger <6996> daughter <1323>.
19. And Laban <3837> said <559>(8799), It is better <2896> that I give <5414>(8800) her to thee, than that I should give <5414>(8800) her to another <312> man <376>: abide <3427>(8798) with me.
20. And Jacob <3290> served <5647>(8799) seven <7651> years <8141> for Rachel <7354>; and they seemed <5869> unto him but a few <259> days <3117>, for the love he had <160> to her.
21. And Jacob <3290> said <559>(8799) unto Laban <3837>, Give <3051>(8798) me my wife <802>, for my days <3117> are fulfilled <4390>(8804), that I may go in <935>(8799) unto her.
22. And Laban <3837> gathered together <622>(8799) all the men <582> of the place <4725>, and made <6213>(8799) a feast <4960>.
23. And it came to pass in the evening <6153>, that he took <3947>(8799) Leah <3812> his daughter <1323>, and brought <935>(8686) her to him; and he went in <935>(8799) unto her.
24. And Laban <3837> gave <5414>(8799) unto his daughter <1323> Leah <3812> Zilpah <2153> his maid <8198> for an handmaid <8198>.
25. And it came to pass, that in the morning <1242>, behold, it was Leah <3812>: and he said <559>(8799) to Laban <3837>, What is this thou hast done <6213>(8804) unto me? did not I serve <5647>(8804) with thee for Rachel <7354>? wherefore then hast thou beguiled <7411>(8765) me?
26. And Laban <3837> said <559>(8799), It must not be so done <6213>(8735) in our country <4725>, to give <5414>(8800) the younger <6810> before <6440> the firstborn <1067>.
27. Fulfil <4390>(8761) her <2063> week <7620>, and we will give <5414>(8799) thee this also for the service <5656> which thou shalt serve <5647>(8799) with me yet seven <7651> other <312> years <8141>.
28. And Jacob <3290> did <6213>(8799) so, and fulfilled <4390>(8762) her week <7620>: and he gave <5414>(8799) him Rachel <7354> his daughter <1323> to wife <802> also.
29. And Laban <3837> gave <5414>(8799) to Rachel <7354> his daughter <1323> Bilhah <1090> his handmaid <8198> to be her maid <8198>.
30. And he went in <935>(8799) also unto Rachel <7354>, and he loved <157>(8799) also Rachel <7354> more than Leah <3812>, and served <5647>(8799) with him yet seven <7651> other <312> years <8141>.
31. And when the LORD <3068> saw <7200>(8799) that Leah <3812> was hated <8130>(8803), he opened <6605>(8799) her womb <7358>: but Rachel <7354> was barren <6135>.
32. And Leah <3812> conceived <2029>(8799), and bare <3205>(8799) a son <1121>, and she called <7121>(8799) his name <8034> Reuben <7205>: for <3588> she said <559>(8804), Surely <3588> the LORD <3068> hath looked <7200>(8804) upon my affliction <6040>; now therefore <3588> my husband <376> will love <157>(8799) me.
33. And she conceived <2029>(8799) again, and bare <3205>(8799) a son <1121>; and said <559>(8799), Because the LORD <3068> hath heard <8085>(8804) that I was hated <8130>(8803), he hath therefore given <5414>(8799) me this son also: and she called <7121>(8799) his name <8034> Simeon <8095>.
34. And she conceived again <2029>(8799), and bare <3205>(8799) a son <1121>; and said <559>(8799), Now this time <6471> will my husband <376> be joined <3867>(8735) unto me, because I have born <3205>(8804) him three <7969> sons <1121>: therefore was his name <8034> called <7121>(8804) Levi <3878>.
35. And she conceived <2029>(8799) again, and bare <3205>(8799) a son <1121>: and she said <559>(8799), Now <6471> will I praise <3034>(8686) the LORD <3068>: therefore she called <7121>(8804) his name <8034> Judah <3063>; and left <5975>(8799) bearing <3205>(8800).
Notes that are not verse specific
In this Psalm we are called upon to realise that we should praise God because he is the creator and that because he is the creator He is able to save us.

Strong tells us that the Hebrew word translated as waiteth is associated with a root word meaning to pierce H2442. Hence God has become our help and our shield thanks to the crucifixion of Jesus.

7. He gathereth <3664>(8802) the waters <4325> of the sea <3220> together as an heap <5067>: he layeth up <5414>(8802) the depth <8415> in storehouses <214>.
8. Let all the earth <776> fear <3372>(8799) the LORD <3068>: let all the inhabitants <3427>(8802) of the world <8398> stand in awe <1481>(8799) of him.
9. For he spake <559>(8804), and it was done; he commanded <6680>(8765), and it stood fast <5975>(8799).
10. The LORD <3068> bringeth <6331> <0> the counsel <6098> of the heathen <1471> to nought <6331>(8689): he maketh <5106> <0> the devices <4284> of the people <5971> of none effect <5106>(8689).
11. The counsel <6098> of the LORD <3068> standeth <5975>(8799) for ever <5769>, the thoughts <4284> of his heart <3820> to all <1755> generations <1755>.
12. Blessed <835> is the nation <1471> whose God <430> is the LORD <3068>; and the people <5971> whom he hath chosen <977>(8804) for his own inheritance <5159>.
13. The LORD <3068> looketh <5027>(8689) from heaven <8064>; he beholdeth <7200>(8804) all the sons <1121> of men <120>.
14. From the place <4349> of his habitation <3427>(8800) he looketh <7688>(8689) upon all the inhabitants <3427>(8802) of the earth <776>.
15. He fashioneth <3335>(8802) their hearts <3820> alike <3162>; he considereth <995>(8688) all their works <4639>.
16. There is no king <4428> saved <3467>(8737) by the multitude <7230> of an host <2428>: a mighty man <1368> is not delivered <5337>(8735) by much <7230> strength <3581>.
17. An horse <5483> is a vain thing <8267> for safety <8668>: neither shall he deliver <4422>(8762) any by his great <7230> strength <2428>.
18. Behold, the eye <5869> of the LORD <3068> is upon them that fear <3373> him, upon them that hope <3176>(8764) in his mercy <2617>;
19. To deliver <5337>(8687) their soul <5315> from death <4194>, and to keep them alive <2421>(8763) in famine <7458>.
20. Our soul <5315> waiteth <2442>(8765) for the LORD <3068>: he is our help <5828> and our shield <4043>.
21. For our heart <3820> shall rejoice <8055>(8799) in him, because we have trusted <982>(8804) in his holy <6944> name <8034>.
22. Let thy mercy <2617>, O LORD <3068>, be upon us, according as we hope <3176>(8765) in thee.

FORGIVEN ... AS WE FORGIVE
We all like to be on the receiving end of nice things, we like receiving gifts, money, affection, love, compliments, help and encouragement, among other things. At times, perhaps even more than anything else we like to receive, we like to be given forgiveness. This is especially true when it comes to being forgiven by God. It is an amazing peace and relief that comes over you after praying for forgiveness by God. It leaves you feeling clean and pure, loved and harmless and ready to meet our God.
But as much as we like to receive it, we must also give it. The Lord's Prayer says, "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors," and the parable of the unforgiving creditor in Matthew 18, graphically illustrates that principle. In the parable we are the servant, God is the king and our friends are the fellow servants. If you read it now with this in mind it will really pack a punch if we have not forgiven as we should have. In today's money we owe about $6000 million to God for our sins and our friends owe us about $10,000 for their sins against us.
Let us be forgiving so that God will be forgiving to us.

FORGIVE
Peter's question was a very good one. Jewish society at the time was very legalistic. Everything had a price, a time and a procedure, so forgiveness and being forgiven should have been no exception. Peter asked, "Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?" Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times, but seventy seven times." Or, as the margin puts it, "seventy times seven."
Whether the number of times we should forgive each other is 77 or 490 times, it makes little difference to me because after 20 I have run out of fingers and toes, so I have to start all over again.
We all know the 70 x 7 principle very well, but how often is it that when someone bears a grudge against another brother or sister, there will be rarely more than one or two complaints against them - almost certainly less than seven, all of which should have been forgiven. Maybe if it were really possible to list off 77 complaints against one person, or even 490, we may have some reason to bear a grudge. However, having forgiven the first 489 offences, we are bound to start at number 1 again when we get to 490. This means forgiveness should be as unlimited as God's forgiveness is to us.
In love we are called to be completely forgiving. Even if we count 490 reasons not to forgive our brother, we have no choice if we, as Christ expects, offer unlimited forgiveness.

1. At <1722> the same <1565> time <5610> came <4334>(5656) the disciples <3101> unto Jesus <2424>, saying <3004>(5723), Who <5101> <686> is <2076>(5748) the greatest <3187> in <1722> the kingdom <932> of heaven <3772>?
2. And <2532> Jesus <2424> called <4341> <0> a little child <3813> unto him <4341>(5666), and set <2476>(5656) him <846> in <1722> the midst <3319> of them <846>,
3. And <2532> said <2036>(5627), Verily <281> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, Except <3362> ye be converted <4762>(5652), and <2532> become <1096>(5638) as <5613> little children <3813>, ye shall <1525> <0> not <3364> enter <1525>(5632) into <1519> the kingdom <932> of heaven <3772>.
4. Whosoever <3748> therefore <3767> shall humble <5013>(5661) himself <1438> as <5613> this <5124> little child <3813>, the same <3778> is <2076>(5748) greatest <3187> in <1722> the kingdom <932> of heaven <3772>.
5. And <2532> whoso <3739> <1437> shall receive <1209>(5667) one <1520> such <5108> little child <3813> in <1909> my <3450> name <3686> receiveth <1209>(5736) me <1691>.
6. But <1161> whoso <3739> <302> shall offend <4624>(5661) one <1520> of these <5130> little ones <3398> which <3588> believe <4100>(5723) in <1519> me <1691>, it were better <4851>(5719) for him <846> that <2443> a millstone <3458> <3684> were hanged <2910>(5686) about <1909> his <846> neck <5137>, and <2532> that he were drowned <2670>(5686) in <1722> the depth <3989> of the sea <2281>.
7. Woe <3759> unto the world <2889> because of <575> offences <4625>! for <1063> it must needs <318> be <2076>(5748) that offences <4625> come <2064>(5629); but <4133> woe <3759> to that man <444> by <1565> whom <1223> <3739> the offence <4625> cometh <2064>(5736)!
8. Wherefore <1161> if <1487> thy <4675> hand <5495> or <2228> thy <4675> foot <4228> offend thee <4624>(5719), cut <1581> <0> them <846> off <1581>(5657), and <2532> cast <906>(5628) them from <575> thee <4571> <4675>: it is <2076>(5748) better <2570> for thee <4671> to enter into <1525>(5629) <1519> life <2222> halt <5560> or <2228> maimed <2948>, rather than <2228> having <2192>(5723) two <1417> hands <5495> or <2228> two <1417> feet <4228> to be cast <906>(5683) into <1519> everlasting <166> fire <4442>.
9. And <2532> if <1487> thine <4675> eye <3788> offend <4624>(5719) thee <4571>, pluck <1807> <0> it <846> out <1807>(5628), and <2532> cast <906>(5628) it from <575> thee <4675>: it is <2076>(5748) better <2570> for thee <4671> to enter <1525>(5629) into <1519> life <2222> with one eye <3442>, rather than <2228> having <2192>(5723) two <1417> eyes <3788> to be cast <906>(5683) into <1519> hell <1067> fire <4442>.
10. Take heed <3708>(5720) that ye despise <2706>(5661) not <3361> one <1520> of these <5130> little ones <3398>; for <1063> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, That <3754> in <1722> heaven <3772> their <846> angels <32> do always <1223> <3956> behold <991>(5719) the face <4383> of my <3450> Father <3962> which <3588> is in <1722> heaven <3772>.
11. For <1063> the Son <5207> of man <444> is come <2064>(5627) to save <4982>(5658) that which <3588> was lost <622>(5756).
12. How <5101> think <1380>(5719) ye <5213>? if <1437> <5100> a man <444> have <1096>(5638) an hundred <1540> sheep <4263>, and <2532> one <1520> of <1537> them <846> be gone astray <4105>(5686), doth he <863> <0> not <3780> leave <863>(5631) the ninety and nine <1768>, and goeth <4198>(5679) into <1909> the mountains <3735>, and seeketh <2212>(5719) that which <3588> is gone astray <4105>(5746)?
13. And <2532> if so <1437> be <1096>(5638) that he find <2147>(5629) it <846>, verily <281> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213> <3754>, he rejoiceth <5463>(5719) more <3123> of <1909> that <846> sheep, than <2228> of <1909> the ninety and nine <1768> which <3588> went <4105> <0> not <3361> astray <4105>(5772).
14. Even so <3779> it is <2076>(5748) not <3756> the will <2307> of <1715> your <5216> Father <3962> which <3588> is in <1722> heaven <3772>, that <2443> one <1520> of these <5130> little ones <3398> should perish <622>(5643).
15. Moreover <1161> if <1437> thy <4675> brother <80> shall trespass <264>(5661) against <1519> thee <4571>, go <5217>(5720) and <2532> tell <1651> <0> him <846> his fault <1651>(5657) between <3342> thee <4675> and <2532> him <846> alone <3441>: if <1437> he shall hear <191>(5661) thee <4675>, thou hast gained <2770>(5656) thy <4675> brother <80>.
16. But <1161> if <3362> <0> he will <191> <0> not <3362> hear <191>(5661) thee, then take <3880>(5628) with <3326> thee <4675> one <1520> or <2228> two <1417> more <2089>, that <2443> in <1909> the mouth <4750> of two <1417> or <2228> three <5140> witnesses <3144> every <3956> word <4487> may be established <2476>(5686).
17. And <1161> if <1437> he shall neglect to hear <3878>(5661) them <846>, tell <2036>(5628) it unto the church <1577>: but <1161> <2532> if <1437> he neglect to hear <3878>(5661) the church <1577>, let him be <2077>(5749) unto thee <4671> as <5618> an heathen man <1482> and <2532> a publican <5057>.
18. Verily <281> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, Whatsoever <3745> <1437> ye shall bind <1210>(5661) on <1909> earth <1093> shall be <2071>(5704) bound <1210>(5772) in <1722> heaven <3772>: and <2532> whatsoever <3745> <1437> ye shall loose <3089>(5661) on <1909> earth <1093> shall be <2071>(5704) loosed <3089>(5772) in <1722> heaven <3772>.
19. Again <3825> I say <3004>(5719) unto you <5213>, That <3754> if <1437> two <1417> of you <5216> shall agree <4856>(5661) on <1909> earth <1093> as touching <4012> any <3956> thing <4229> that <1437> they shall ask <154>(5672), it shall be done <1096>(5695) for them <846> of <3844> my <3450> Father <3962> which <3588> is in <1722> heaven <3772>.
20. For <1063> where <3757> two <1417> or <2228> three <5140> are <1526>(5748) gathered together <4863>(5772) in <1519> my <1699> name <3686>, there <1563> am I <1510>(5748) in <1722> the midst <3319> of them <846>.
21. Then <5119> came <4334>(5631) Peter <4074> to him <846>, and said <2036>(5627), Lord <2962>, how oft <4212> shall my <3450> brother <80> sin <264>(5692) against <1519> me <1691>, and <2532> I forgive <863>(5692) him <846>? till <2193> seven times <2034>?
22. Jesus <2424> saith <3004>(5719) unto him <846>, I say <3004>(5719) not <3756> unto thee <4671>, Until <2193> seven times <2034>: but <235>, Until <2193> seventy times <1441> seven <2033>.
23. Therefore <1223> <5124> is the kingdom <932> of heaven <3772> likened <3666>(5681) unto a certain <444> king <935>, which <3739> would <2309>(5656) take <4868>(5658) account <3056> of <3326> his <848> servants <1401>.
24. And <1161> when he <846> had begun <756>(5671) to reckon <4868>(5721), one <1520> was brought <4374>(5681) unto him <846>, which owed <3781> him <846> ten thousand <3463> talents <5007>.
25. But forasmuch as <1161> he had <2192>(5723) not <3361> to pay <591>(5629), his <846> lord <2962> commanded <2753>(5656) him <846> to be sold <4097>(5683), and <2532> his <846> wife <1135>, and <2532> children <5043>, and <2532> all <3956> that <3745> he had <2192>(5707), and <2532> payment to be made <591>(5683).
26. The servant <1401> therefore <3767> fell down <4098>(5631), and worshipped <4352>(5707) him <846>, saying <3004>(5723), Lord <2962>, have patience <3114>(5657) with <1909> me <1698>, and <2532> I will pay <591>(5692) thee <4671> all <3956>.
27. Then <1161> the lord <2962> of that <1565> servant <1401> was moved with compassion <4697>(5679), and <2532> loosed <630>(5656) him, and <2532> forgave <863>(5656) him <846> the debt <1156>.
28. But <1161> the same <1565> servant <1401> went out <1831>(5631), and found <2147>(5627) one <1520> of his <848> fellowservants <4889>, which <3739> owed <3784>(5707) him <846> an hundred <1540> pence <1220>: and <2532> he laid hands <2902>(5660) on him <846>, and took <846> him by the throat <4155>(5707), saying <3004>(5723), Pay <591>(5628) me <3427> that <3748> thou owest <3784>(5719).
29. And <3767> his <846> fellowservant <4889> fell down <4098>(5631) at <1519> his <846> feet <4228>, and besought <3870>(5707) him <846>, saying <3004>(5723), Have patience <3114>(5657) with <1909> me <1698>, and <2532> I will pay <591>(5692) thee <4671> all <3956>.
30. And <1161> he would <2309>(5707) not <3756>: but <235> went <565>(5631) and cast <906>(5627) him <846> into <1519> prison <5438>, till <2193> he should pay <591>(5632) the debt <3784>(5746).
31. So <1161> when his <846> fellowservants <4889> saw <1492>(5631) what was done <1096>(5637), they were very <4970> sorry <3076>(5681), and <2532> came <2064>(5631) and told <1285>(5656) unto their <848> lord <2962> all <3956> that was done <1096>(5637).
32. Then <5119> his <846> lord <2962>, after that he had called <4341>(5666) him <846>, said <3004>(5719) unto him <846>, O thou wicked <4190> servant <1401>, I forgave <863>(5656) thee <4671> all <3956> that <1565> debt <3782>, because <1893> thou desiredst <3870>(5656) me <3165>:
33. Shouldest <1163>(5713) not <3756> thou <4571> also <2532> have had compassion <1653>(5658) on thy <4675> fellowservant <4889>, even <2532> as <5613> I <1473> had pity <1653>(5656) on thee <4571>?
34. And <2532> his <846> lord <2962> was wroth <3710>(5685), and delivered <3860>(5656) him <846> to the tormentors <930>, till <2193> he should pay <591>(5632) all <3956> that was due <3784>(5746) unto him <846>.
35. So <3779> likewise shall my <3450> heavenly <2032> Father <3962> do <4160>(5692) also <2532> unto you <5213>, if <3362> <0> ye from <575> your <5216> hearts <2588> forgive <863>(5632) not <3362> every one <1538> his <848> brother <80> their <846> trespasses <3900>.
