2:2-10 Compare the language and themes of Hannah's prayer with the book of Job, specifically v6-10 with Job's initial lament in Job 3. One notable parallel is where Job talks of his desire to go down into the grave, to lie amongst the dead princes of the earth whilst Hannah talks of bringing down to Sheol, and raising up - lifting the poor and needy to sit with the princes.

1. And Hannah <2584> prayed <6419>(8691), and said <559>(8799), My heart <3820> rejoiceth <5970>(8804) in the LORD <3068>, mine horn <7161> is exalted <7311>(8804) in the LORD <3068>: my mouth <6310> is enlarged <7337>(8804) over mine enemies <341>(8802); because I rejoice <8055>(8804) in thy salvation <3444>.
2. There is none holy <6918> as the LORD <3068>: for there is none beside <1115> thee: neither is there any rock <6697> like our God <430>.
3. Talk <1696>(8762) no more <7235>(8686) so exceeding <1364> proudly <1364>; let not arrogancy <6277> come <3318>(8799) out of your mouth <6310>: for the LORD <3068> is a God <410> of knowledge <1844>, and by him actions <5949> are weighed <8505>(8738).
4. The bows <7198> of the mighty men <1368> are broken <2844>, and they that stumbled <3782>(8737) are girded <247>(8804) with strength <2428>.
5. They that were full <7649> have hired out <7936>(8738) themselves for bread <3899>; and they that were hungry <7457> ceased <2308>(8804): so that the barren <6135> hath born <3205>(8804) seven <7651>; and she that hath many <7227> children <1121> is waxed feeble <535>(8797).
6. The LORD <3068> killeth <4191>(8688), and maketh alive <2421>(8764): he bringeth down <3381>(8688) to the grave <7585>, and bringeth up <5927>(8686).
7. The LORD <3068> maketh poor <3423>(8688), and maketh rich <6238>(8688): he bringeth low <8213>(8688), and <637> lifteth up <7311>(8789).
8. He raiseth up <6965>(8688) the poor <1800> out of the dust <6083>, and lifteth up <7311>(8686) the beggar <34> from the dunghill <830>, to set <3427>(8687) them among princes <5081>, and to make them inherit <5157>(8686) the throne <3678> of glory <3519>: for the pillars <4690> of the earth <776> are the LORD'S <3068>, and he hath set <7896>(8799) the world <8398> upon them.
9. He will keep <8104>(8799) the feet <7272> of his saints <2623>, and the wicked <7563> shall be silent <1826>(8735) in darkness <2822>; for by strength <3581> shall no man <376> prevail <1396>(8799).
10. The adversaries <7378>(8688) of the LORD <3068> shall be broken to pieces <2865>(8735); out of heaven <8064> shall he thunder <7481>(8686) upon them: the LORD <3068> shall judge <1777>(8799) the ends <657> of the earth <776>; and he shall give <5414>(8799) strength <5797> unto his king <4428>, and exalt <7311>(8686) the horn <7161> of his anointed <4899>.
11. And Elkanah <511> went <3212>(8799) to Ramah <7414> to his house <1004>. And the child <5288> did <1961>(8804) minister <8334>(8764) unto the LORD <3068> before <6440> Eli <5941> the priest <3548>.
12. Now the sons <1121> of Eli <5941> were sons <1121> of Belial <1100>; they knew <3045>(8804) not the LORD <3068>.
13. And the priests <3548>' custom <4941> with the people <5971> was, that, when any man <376> offered <2076>(8802) sacrifice <2077>, the priest's <3548> servant <5288> came <935>(8804), while the flesh <1320> was in seething <1310>(8763), with a fleshhook <4207> of three <7969> teeth <8127> in his hand <3027>;
14. And he struck <5221>(8689) it into the pan <3595>, or kettle <1731>, or caldron <7037>, or pot <6517>; all that the fleshhook <4207> brought up <5927>(8686) the priest <3548> took <3947>(8799) for himself. So they did <6213>(8799) in Shiloh <7887> unto all the Israelites <3478> that came <935>(8802) thither.
15. Also before they burnt <6999>(8686) the fat <2459>, the priest's <3548> servant <5288> came <935>(8804), and said <559>(8804) to the man <376> that sacrificed <2076>(8802), Give <5414>(8798) flesh <1320> to roast <6740>(8800) for the priest <3548>; for he will not have <3947>(8799) sodden <1310>(8794) flesh <1320> of thee, but raw <2416>.
16. And if any man <376> said <559>(8799) unto him, Let them not fail <6999>(8686) to burn <6999>(8763) the fat <2459> presently <3117>, and then take <3947>(8798) as much as thy soul <5315> desireth <183>(8762); then he would answer <559>(8804) him, Nay; but thou shalt give <5414>(8799) it me now: and if not, I will take <3947>(8804) it by force <2394>.
17. Wherefore the sin <2403> of the young men <5288> was very <3966> great <1419> before <6440> the LORD <3068>: for men <582> abhorred <5006>(8765) the offering <4503> of the LORD <3068>.
18. But Samuel <8050> ministered <8334>(8764) before <6440> the LORD <3068>, being a child <5288>, girded <2296>(8803) with a linen <906> ephod <646>.
19. Moreover his mother <517> made <6213>(8799) him a little <6996> coat <4598>, and brought <5927>(8689) it to him from year <3117> to year <3117>, when she came up <5927>(8800) with her husband <376> to offer <2076>(8800) the yearly <3117> sacrifice <2077>.
20. And Eli <5941> blessed <1288>(8765) Elkanah <511> and his wife <802>, and said <559>(8804), The LORD <3068> give <7760>(8799) thee seed <2233> of this woman <802> for the loan <7596> which is lent <7592>(8804) to the LORD <3068>. And they went <1980>(8804) unto their own home <4725>.
21. And <3588> the LORD <3068> visited <6485>(8804) Hannah <2584>, so that she conceived <2029>(8799), and bare <3205>(8799) three <7969> sons <1121> and two <8147> daughters <1323>. And the child <5288> Samuel <8050> grew <1431>(8799) before <5973> the LORD <3068>.
22. Now Eli <5941> was very <3966> old <2204>(8804), and heard <8085>(8804) all that his sons <1121> did <6213>(8799) unto all Israel <3478>; and how they lay <7901>(8799) with the women <802> that assembled <6633>(8802) at the door <6607> of the tabernacle <168> of the congregation <4150>.
23. And he said <559>(8799) unto them, Why do <6213>(8799) ye such things <1697>? for I hear <8085>(8802) of your evil <7451> dealings <1697> by all this people <5971>.
24. Nay, my sons <1121>; for it is no good <2896> report <8052> that I hear <8085>(8802): ye make the LORD'S <3068> people <5971> to transgress <5674>(8688).
25. If one man <376> sin <2398>(8799) against another <376>, the judge <430> shall judge <6419>(8765) him: but if a man <376> sin <2398>(8799) against the LORD <3068>, who shall intreat <6419>(8691) for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened <8085>(8799) not unto the voice <6963> of their father <1>, because the LORD <3068> would <2654>(8804) slay <4191>(8687) them.
26. And the child <5288> Samuel <8050> grew <1432> on <1980>(8802), and was in favour <2896> both with the LORD <3068>, and also with men <582>.
27. And there came <935>(8799) a man <376> of God <430> unto Eli <5941>, and said <559>(8799) unto him, Thus saith <559>(8804) the LORD <3068>, Did I plainly <1540>(8736) appear <1540>(8738) unto the house <1004> of thy father <1>, when they were in Egypt <4714> in Pharaoh's <6547> house <1004>?
28. And did I choose <977>(8800) him out of all the tribes <7626> of Israel <3478> to be my priest <3548>, to offer <5927>(8800) upon mine altar <4196>, to burn <6999>(8687) incense <7004>, to wear <5375>(8800) an ephod <646> before <6440> me? and did I give <5414>(8799) unto the house <1004> of thy father <1> all the offerings made by fire <801> of the children <1121> of Israel <3478>?
29. Wherefore kick <1163>(8799) ye at my sacrifice <2077> and at mine offering <4503>, which I have commanded <6680>(8765) in my habitation <4583>; and honourest <3513>(8762) thy sons <1121> above me, to make yourselves fat <1254>(8687) with the chiefest <7225> of all the offerings <4503> of Israel <3478> my people <5971>?
30. Wherefore the LORD <3068> God <430> of Israel <3478> saith <5002>(8803), I said <559>(8804) indeed <559>(8800) that thy house <1004>, and the house <1004> of thy father <1>, should walk <1980>(8691) before <6440> me for <5704> ever <5769>: but now the LORD <3068> saith <5002>(8803), Be it far from me <2486>; for them that honour <3513>(8764) me I will honour <3513>(8762), and they that despise <959>(8802) me shall be lightly esteemed <7043>(8799).
31. Behold, the days <3117> come <935>(8802), that I will cut off <1438>(8804) thine arm <2220>, and the arm <2220> of thy father's <1> house <1004>, that there shall not be an old man <2205> in thine house <1004>.
32. And thou shalt see <5027>(8689) an enemy <6862> in my habitation <4583>, in all the wealth which God shall give <3190>(8686) Israel <3478>: and there shall not be an old man <2205> in thine house <1004> for ever <3117>.
33. And the man <376> of thine, whom I shall not cut off <3772>(8686) from mine altar <4196>, shall be to consume <3615>(8763) thine eyes <5869>, and to grieve <109> thine heart <5315>: and all the increase <4768> of thine house <1004> shall die <4191>(8799) in the flower of their age <582>.
34. And this shall be a sign <226> unto thee, that shall come <935>(8799) upon thy two <8147> sons <1121>, on Hophni <2652> and Phinehas <6372>; in one <259> day <3117> they shall die <4191>(8799) both <8147> of them.
35. And I will raise me up <6965>(8689) a faithful <539>(8737) priest <3548>, that shall do <6213>(8799) according to that which is in mine heart <3824> and in my mind <5315>: and I will build <1129>(8804) him a sure <539>(8737) house <1004>; and he shall walk <1980>(8694) before <6440> mine anointed <4899> for ever <3117>.
36. And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left <3498>(8737) in thine house <1004> shall come <935>(8799) and crouch <7812>(8692) to him for a piece <95> of silver <3701> and a morsel <3603> of bread <3899>, and shall say <559>(8804), Put <5596>(8798) me, I pray thee, into one <259> of the priests' offices <3550>, that I may eat <398>(8800) a piece <6595> of bread <3899>.

1. Hear <8085>(8798) ye this, O house <1004> of Jacob <3290>, which are called <7121>(8737) by the name <8034> of Israel <3478>, and are come forth <3318>(8804) out of the waters <4325> of Judah <3063>, which swear <7650>(8737) by the name <8034> of the LORD <3068>, and make mention <2142>(8686) of the God <430> of Israel <3478>, but not in truth <571>, nor in righteousness <6666>.
2. For they call <7121>(8738) themselves of the holy <6944> city <5892>, and stay <5564>(8738) themselves upon the God <430> of Israel <3478>; The LORD <3068> of hosts <6635> is his name <8034>.
3. I have declared <5046>(8689) the former things <7223> from the beginning <227>; and they went forth <3318>(8804) out of my mouth <6310>, and I shewed <8085>(8686) them; I did <6213>(8804) them suddenly <6597>, and they came to pass <935>(8799).
4. Because I knew <1847> that thou art obstinate <7186>, and thy neck <6203> is an iron <1270> sinew <1517>, and thy brow <4696> brass <5154>;
5. I have even from the beginning <227> declared <5046>(8686) it to thee; before it came to pass <935>(8799) I shewed <8085>(8689) it thee: lest thou shouldest say <559>(8799), Mine idol <6090> hath done <6213>(8804) them, and my graven image <6459>, and my molten image <5262>, hath commanded <6680>(8765) them.
6. Thou hast heard <8085>(8804), see <2372>(8798) all this; and will not ye declare <5046>(8686) it? I have shewed <8085>(8689) thee new things <2319> from this time <6258>, even hidden things <5341>(8803), and thou didst not know <3045>(8804) them.
7. They are created <1254>(8738) now, and not from the beginning; even before <6440> the day <3117> when thou heardest <8085>(8804) them not; lest thou shouldest say <559>(8799), Behold, I knew <3045>(8804) them.
8. Yea, thou heardest <8085>(8804) not; yea, thou knewest <3045>(8804) not; yea, from that time that thine ear <241> was not opened <6605>(8765): for I knew <3045>(8804) that thou wouldest deal very <898>(8800) treacherously <898>(8799), and wast called <7121>(8795) a transgressor <6586>(8802) from the womb <990>.
9. For my name's <8034> sake will I defer <748>(8686) mine anger <639>, and for my praise <8416> will I refrain <2413>(8799) for thee, that I cut thee not off <3772>(8687).
10. Behold, I have refined <6884>(8804) thee, but not with silver <3701>; I have chosen <977>(8804) thee in the furnace <3564> of affliction <6040>.
11. For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do <6213>(8799) it: for how should my name be polluted <2490>(8735)? and I will not give <5414>(8799) my glory <3519> unto another <312>.
12. Hearken <8085>(8798) unto me, O Jacob <3290> and Israel <3478>, my called <7121>(8794); I am he; I am the first <7223>, I also am the last <314>.
13. Mine hand <3027> also hath laid the foundation <3245>(8804) of the earth <776>, and my right hand <3225> hath spanned <2946>(8765) the heavens <8064>: when I call <7121>(8802) unto them, they stand up <5975>(8799) together <3162>.
14. All ye, assemble <6908>(8734) yourselves, and hear <8085>(8798); which among them hath declared <5046>(8689) these things? The LORD <3068> hath loved <157>(8804) him: he will do <6213>(8799) his pleasure <2656> on Babylon <894>, and his arm <2220> shall be on the Chaldeans <3778>.
15. I, even I, have spoken <1696>(8765); yea, I have called <7121>(8804) him: I have brought <935>(8689) him, and he shall make his way <1870> prosperous <6743>(8689).
16. Come <7126>(8798) ye near <7126>(8798) unto me, hear <8085>(8798) ye this; I have not spoken <1696>(8765) in secret <5643> from the beginning <7218>; from the time <6256> that it was, there am I: and now the Lord <136> GOD <3069>, and his Spirit <7307>, hath sent <7971>(8804) me.
17. Thus saith <559>(8804) the LORD <3068>, thy Redeemer <1350>(8802), the Holy One <6918> of Israel <3478>; I am the LORD <3068> thy God <430> which teacheth <3925>(8764) thee to profit <3276>(8687), which leadeth <1869>(8688) thee by the way <1870> that thou shouldest go <3212>(8799).
18. O that <3863> thou hadst hearkened <7181>(8689) to my commandments <4687>! then had thy peace <7965> been as a river <5104>, and thy righteousness <6666> as the waves <1530> of the sea <3220>:
19. Thy seed <2233> also had been as the sand <2344>, and the offspring <6631> of thy bowels <4578> like the gravel <4579> thereof; his name <8034> should not have been cut off <3772>(8735) nor destroyed <8045>(8735) from before <6440> me.
20. Go ye forth <3318>(8798) of Babylon <894>, flee <1272>(8798) ye from the Chaldeans <3778>, with a voice <6963> of singing <7440> declare <5046>(8685) ye, tell <8085>(8685) this, utter <3318>(8685) it even to the end <7097> of the earth <776>; say <559>(8798) ye, The LORD <3068> hath redeemed <1350>(8804) his servant <5650> Jacob <3290>.
21. And they thirsted <6770>(8804) not when he led <3212>(8689) them through the deserts <2723>: he caused the waters <4325> to flow <5140>(8689) out of the rock <6697> for them: he clave <1234>(8799) the rock <6697> also, and the waters <4325> gushed out <2100>(8799).
22. There is no peace <7965>, saith <559>(8804) the LORD <3068>, unto the wicked <7563>.

1. And <2532> I saw <1492>(5627) in <1909> the right hand <1188> of him that sat <2521>(5740) on <1909> the throne <2362> a book <975> written <1125>(5772) within <2081> and <2532> on the backside <3693>, sealed <2696>(5772) with seven <2033> seals <4973>.
2. And <2532> I saw <1492>(5627) a strong <2478> angel <32> proclaiming <2784>(5723) with a loud <3173> voice <5456>, Who <5101> is <2076>(5748) worthy <514> to open <455>(5658) the book <975>, and <2532> to loose <3089>(5658) the seals <4973> thereof <846>?
3. And <2532> no man <3762> in <1722> heaven <3772>, nor <3761> in <1909> earth <1093>, neither <3761> under <5270> the earth <1093>, was able <1410>(5711) to open <455>(5658) the book <975>, neither <3761> to look <991>(5721) thereon <846>.
4. And <2532> I <1473> wept <2799>(5707) much <4183>, because <3754> no man <3762> was found <2147>(5681) worthy <514> to open <455>(5658) and <2532> to read <314>(5629) the book <975>, neither <3777> to look <991>(5721) thereon <846>.
5. And <2532> one <1520> of <1537> the elders <4245> saith <3004>(5719) unto me <3427>, Weep <2799>(5720) not <3361>: behold <2400>(5628), the Lion <3023> of <5607>(5752) <1537> the tribe <5443> of Juda <2455>, the Root <4491> of David <1138>, hath prevailed <3528>(5656) to open <455>(5658) the book <975>, and <2532> to loose <3089>(5658) the seven <2033> seals <4973> thereof <846>.
6. And <2532> I beheld <1492>(5627), and <2532>, lo <2400>(5628), in <1722> the midst <3319> of the throne <2362> and <2532> of the four <5064> beasts <2226>, and <2532> in <1722> the midst <3319> of the elders <4245>, stood <2476>(5761) a Lamb <721> as <5613> it had been slain <4969>(5772), having <2192>(5723) seven <2033> horns <2768> and <2532> seven <2033> eyes <3788>, which <3739> are <1526>(5748) the seven <2033> Spirits <4151> of God <2316> sent forth <649>(5772) into <1519> all <3956> the earth <1093>.
7. And <2532> he came <2064>(5627) and <2532> took <2983>(5758) the book <975> out of <1537> the right hand <1188> of him that sat <2521>(5740) upon <1909> the throne <2362>.
8. And <2532> when <3753> he had taken <2983>(5627) the book <975>, the four <5064> beasts <2226> and <2532> four <5064> and twenty <1501> elders <4245> fell down <4098>(5627) before <1799> the Lamb <721>, having <2192>(5723) every one of them <1538> harps <2788>, and <2532> golden <5552> vials <5357> full <1073>(5723) of odours <2368>, which <3739> are <1526>(5748) the prayers <4335> of saints <40>.
9. And <2532> they sung <103>(5719) a new <2537> song <5603>, saying <3004>(5723), Thou art <1488>(5748) worthy <514> to take <2983>(5629) the book <975>, and <2532> to open <455>(5658) the seals <4973> thereof <846>: for <3754> thou wast slain <4969>(5648), and <2532> hast redeemed <59>(5656) us <2248> to God <2316> by <1722> thy <4675> blood <129> out of <1537> every <3956> kindred <5443>, and <2532> tongue <1100>, and <2532> people <2992>, and <2532> nation <1484>;
10. And <2532> hast made <4160>(5656) us <2248> unto our <2257> God <2316> kings <935> and <2532> priests <2409>: and <2532> we shall reign <936>(5692) on <1909> the earth <1093>.
11. And <2532> I beheld <1492>(5627), and <2532> I heard <191>(5656) the voice <5456> of many <4183> angels <32> round about <2943> the throne <2362> and <2532> the beasts <2226> and <2532> the elders <4245>: and <2532> the number <706> of them <846> was <2258>(5713) ten thousand <3461> times ten thousand <3461>, and <2532> thousands <5505> of thousands <5505>;
12. Saying <3004>(5723) with a loud <3173> voice <5456>, Worthy <514> is <2076>(5748) the Lamb <721> that was slain <4969>(5772) to receive <2983>(5629) power <1411>, and <2532> riches <4149>, and <2532> wisdom <4678>, and <2532> strength <2479>, and <2532> honour <5092>, and <2532> glory <1391>, and <2532> blessing <2129>.
13. And <2532> every <3956> creature <2938> which <3739> is <2076>(5748) in <1722> heaven <3772>, and <2532> on <1722> the earth <1093>, and <2532> under <5270> the earth <1093>, and <2532> such as <3739> are <2076>(5748) in <1909> the sea <2281>, and <2532> all <3956> that are in <1722> them <846>, heard I <191>(5656) saying <3004>(5723), Blessing <2129>, and <2532> honour <5092>, and <2532> glory <1391>, and <2532> power <2904>, be unto him that sitteth <2521>(5740) upon <1909> the throne <2362>, and <2532> unto the Lamb <721> for <1519> ever <165> and ever <165>.
14. And <2532> the four <5064> beasts <2226> said <3004>(5707), Amen <281>. And <2532> the four <5064> and twenty <1501> elders <4245> fell down <4098>(5627) and <2532> worshipped <4352>(5656) him that liveth <2198>(5723) for <1519> ever <165> and ever <165>.
1. And <2532> I saw <1492>(5627) when <3753> the Lamb <721> opened <455>(5656) one <3391> of <1537> the seals <4973>, and <2532> I heard <191>(5656), as it were <5613> the noise <5456> of thunder <1027>, one <1520> of <1537> the four <5064> beasts <2226> saying <3004>(5723), Come <2064>(5736) and <2532> see <991>(5720).
2. And <2532> I saw <1492>(5627), and <2532> behold <2400>(5628) a white <3022> horse <2462>: and <2532> he that sat <2521>(5740) on <1909> him <846> had <2192>(5723) a bow <5115>; and <2532> a crown <4735> was given <1325>(5681) unto him <846>: and <2532> he went forth <1831>(5627) conquering <3528>(5723), and <2532> to <2443> conquer <3528>(5661).
3. And <2532> when <3753> he had opened <455>(5656) the second <1208> seal <4973>, I heard <191>(5656) the second <1208> beast <2226> say <3004>(5723), Come <2064>(5736) and <2532> see <991>(5720).
4. And <2532> there went out <1831>(5627) another <243> horse <2462> that was red <4450>: and <2532> power was given <1325>(5681) to him <846> that sat <2521>(5740) thereon <1909> <846> to take <2983>(5629) peace <1515> from <575> the earth <1093>, and <2532> that <2443> they should kill <4969>(5661) one another <240>: and <2532> there was given <1325>(5681) unto him <846> a great <3173> sword <3162>.
5. And <2532> when <3753> he had opened <455>(5656) the third <5154> seal <4973>, I heard <191>(5656) the third <5154> beast <2226> say <3004>(5723), Come <2064>(5736) and <2532> see <991>(5720). And <2532> I beheld <1492>(5627), and <2532> lo <2400>(5628) a black <3189> horse <2462>; and <2532> he that sat <2521>(5740) on <1909> him <846> had <2192>(5723) a pair of balances <2218> in <1722> his <848> hand <5495>.
6. And <2532> I heard <191>(5656) a voice <5456> in <1722> the midst <3319> of the four <5064> beasts <2226> say <3004>(5723), A measure <5518> of wheat <4621> for a penny <1220>, and <2532> three <5140> measures <5518> of barley <2915> for a penny <1220>; and <2532> see thou hurt <91>(5661) not <3361> the oil <1637> and <2532> the wine <3631>.
7. And <2532> when <3753> he had opened <455>(5656) the fourth <5067> seal <4973>, I heard <191>(5656) the voice <5456> of the fourth <5067> beast <2226> say <3004>(5723), Come <2064>(5736) and <2532> see <991>(5720).
8. And <2532> I looked <1492>(5627), and <2532> behold <2400>(5628) a pale <5515> horse <2462>: and <2532> his <846> name <3686> that sat <2521>(5740) on <1883> him <846> was Death <2288>, and <2532> Hell <86> followed <190>(5719) with <3326> him <846>. And <2532> power <1849> was given <1325>(5681) unto them <846> over <1909> the fourth part <5067> of the earth <1093>, to kill <615>(5658) with <1722> sword <4501>, and <2532> with <1722> hunger <3042>, and <2532> with <1722> death <2288>, and <2532> with <5259> the beasts <2342> of the earth <1093>.
9. And <2532> when <3753> he had opened <455>(5656) the fifth <3991> seal <4973>, I saw <1492>(5627) under <5270> the altar <2379> the souls <5590> of them that were slain <4969>(5772) for <1223> the word <3056> of God <2316>, and <2532> for <1223> the testimony <3141> which <3739> they held <2192>(5707):
10. And <2532> they cried <2896>(5707) with a loud <3173> voice <5456>, saying <3004>(5723), How <2193> long <4219>, O Lord <1203>, holy <40> and <2532> true <228>, dost thou <2919> <0> not <3756> judge <2919>(5719) and <2532> avenge <1556>(5719) our <2257> blood <129> on <575> them that dwell <2730>(5723) on <1909> the earth <1093>?
11. And <2532> white <3022> robes <4749> were given <1325>(5681) unto every one of them <1538>; and <2532> it was said <4483>(5681) unto them <846>, that <2443> they should rest <373>(5672) yet <2089> for a little <3398> season <5550>, until <2193> their <846> fellowservants <4889> also <2532> and <2532> their <846> brethren <80>, that should <3195>(5723) be killed <615>(5745) as <5613> <2532> they <846> were, should <3739> be fulfilled <4137>(5695).
12. And <2532> I beheld <1492>(5627) when <3753> he had opened <455>(5656) the sixth <1623> seal <4973>, and <2532>, lo <2400>(5628), there was <1096>(5633) a great <3173> earthquake <4578>; and <2532> the sun <2246> became <1096>(5633) black <3189> as <5613> sackcloth <4526> of hair <5155>, and <2532> the moon <4582> became <1096>(5633) as <5613> blood <129>;
13. And <2532> the stars <792> of heaven <3772> fell <4098>(5627) unto <1519> the earth <1093>, even as <5613> a fig tree <4808> casteth <906>(5719) her <848> untimely figs <3653>, when she is shaken <4579>(5746) of <5259> a mighty <3173> wind <417>.
14. And <2532> the heaven <3772> departed <673>(5681) as <5613> a scroll <975> when it is rolled together <1507>(5746); and <2532> every <3956> mountain <3735> and <2532> island <3520> were moved <2795>(5681) out of <1537> their <848> places <5117>.
15. And <2532> the kings <935> of the earth <1093>, and <2532> the great men <3175>, and <2532> the rich men <4145>, and <2532> the chief captains <5506>, and <2532> the mighty men <1415>, and <2532> every <3956> bondman <1401>, and <2532> every <3956> free man <1658>, hid <2928>(5656) themselves <1438> in <1519> the dens <4693> and <2532> in <1519> the rocks <4073> of the mountains <3735>;
16. And <2532> said <3004>(5719) to the mountains <3735> and <2532> rocks <4073>, Fall <4098>(5628) on <1909> us <2248>, and <2532> hide <2928>(5657) us <2248> from <575> the face <4383> of him that sitteth <2521>(5740) on <1909> the throne <2362>, and <2532> from <575> the wrath <3709> of the Lamb <721>:
17. For <3754> the great <3173> day <2250> of his <846> wrath <3709> is come <2064>(5627); and <2532> who <5101> shall be able <1410>(5736) to stand <2476>(5683)?
